AUTHENTIC INTERPRETATION OF ARTICLE 14 OF VALUE ADDED TAX

The authentic interpretation of Article 14 of the Law on Value Added Tax by the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia will give strong push to the domestic and foreign companies in the ICT and BPO industry to continue investing and creating new jobs.
This message was conveyed at a press conference at MASIT by the Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Manchevski, the Secretary General of the Government DragiRaskovski, Marijana Andric, MASIT tax expert, lawyer Ivica Jeftic and Nikica Mojsoska Blazevski, Macedonia 2025.

“In the beginning there were no dilemmas in the application of this article, but with the emergence of new services in recent years while conducting inspection by the Public Revenue Office, there has been a dilemma as to which services can be brought under this paragraph. A very restrictive application has begun, with inspectors demanding each service to be read explicitly in the law. For this reason, companies in the IT industry, as well as other intellectual services exporters, faced a serious risk of additional VAT liability” explained Ms. Andric.

Mr. Dragi Raskovski, Secretary General of the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia stated that authentic interpretation is a very powerful tool and as a university professor emphasized that the tool will be used in textbooks.

Minister Manchevski emphasized that IT is one of the fastest growing industries in our country and North Macedonia strives to become the new IT destination.
