Oracle Academy offers a plethora of benefits to its members worldwide, with Oracle NetSuite included for business programs. Oracle NetSuite is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software suite designed to manage various business processes in a single system. It is known for its comprehensive suite of applications that streamline business operations and provide a unified platform for managing diverse business functions, including modules like ERP, CRM, E-commerce, HCM and Professional Services Automation (project management, resource planning, and time tracking). NetSuite operates entirely in the cloud, providing accessibility from anywhere on any device with an internet connection and offers scalability for businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large enterprises.

Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka, Croatia (Ekonomski fakultet Rijeka, most often abbreviated as EFRI) is a constituent member of the University of Rijeka. Established in 1961, it is one of the oldest and most respected institutions in Croatia for economic and business studies. It is the third largest institution of its kind in the country, offering various undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate specialist and postgraduate doctoral study programs to its students.

As an Oracle Academy member institution, EFRI offers various program benefits to its students, and is one of the first institutions in Central and Eastern Europe that opted to introduce Oracle NetSuite to its students. On June 12, 2024, representatives of Oracle Academy and MARAND Consultants, an Oracle NetSuite partner for the Adriatic region (Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia), joined Assistant Professor Dr. Ivan Uroda at EFRI to deliver a guest presentation about Oracle NetSuite to his graduate study students in the courses Business and Management Information Systems.

As Marijana Andrić from MARAND Consultants emphasized, modern education must keep pace with the rapid changes in the digital world. Integrating Oracle NetSuite into academic programs is a crucial step in preparing students for new digitally-focused careers. This collaboration provides students with direct access to cutting-edge business tools, which are essential for their professional success and development.

Almira Hernaut, a colleague of Marijana Andrić, also emphasized that a practical knowledge of Oracle NetSuite processes empowers students and unlocks additional career options for them. Learning through practice enables various competitive advantages such as better understanding why they are a perfect fit for the offered role, easier communication with employers, and quicker onboarding in future workplaces.

For Assistant Professor Dr. Ivan Uroda, this cooperation is a natural extension and step forward for the Oracle Academy program he introduced at EFRI in May 2019. As he states, the Oracle Academy program and related software have already become indispensable and an essential part of some of his courses, and Oracle NetSuite will provide him with the rather amazing opportunity to lift some of the other courses to a much higher and more advanced level. Moreover, since September 2022, EFRI is also partnering with several other universities from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ireland on the EU-funded Erasmus+ project named “KA220-HED Embracing rapid application development (RAD) skills opportunity as a catalyst for employability and innovation” (or “RAD Skills” in short). In this project, Oracle APEX, the first Oracle software that was introduced to EFRI students in October 2021, is being actively used to facilitate various steps and specifics of rapid application development.

All courses at EFRI held by Dr. Uroda (in both Croatian and English languages) belong to the scientific field of Business Informatics, i.e., they are designed to blend business and/or economics with information and communication technology. They are related to business informatics in the widest terms, business databases, database management systems in business, business information systems, security related to business informatics and business information systems in conjunction with technology-driven foreign direct investments, and integration of business process with various ERP software. Hence, these courses constantly attract students from all EFRI undergraduate and graduate programs (economy of development, finances, marketing, international business, management, entrepreneurship). This is mainly because all these courses aim to produce undergraduates and/or graduates who are extremely prepared for useful organizational roles such as business analysts, IT consultants, systems analysts, business databases specialists, project managers, information systems managers and ERP consultants, whether for organizations or self employed.
